Blue-green algae are bacteria which is called cyanobacteria, they are normally green or bluish. They belong to the phylum Cyanophyta, which is part of the kingdom prokaryotes. Bluegreen algae perform photosynthesis due to the presence of a flattened sac-like structure called thylakoid.
