Hint: A connective tissue is a type of tissue which connects, supports and separates all other types of tissues within our body. Connective tissue is found everywhere in our body connecting different tissues. Blood is an example of fluid connective tissue.

A connective tissue comprises cells, extracellular matrix and proteins/ fibrous. The function of connective tissue is to provide support, transport of nutrients, store energy, and also insulation.
Blood is an example of fluid connective tissue as it connects every tissue and organs inside our body. Blood is also considered as connective tissue because it has a matrix, containing living cells like RBC, WBC, platelets. The fluid portion is called the plasma. It is a non-fibrous connective tissue.

The function of blood as a connective tissue is as follows-
1)The blood transports carbon dioxide and oxygen to all the parts of the body to every tissue and every cell. It contains a pigment called haemoglobin which helps in transport of oxygen to every part of the body.

2)The glucose is transported to all the parts of the body through blood.

3)It transports various cells and other molecules throughout the body.

4)The blood is the only transport medium for the hormones and other essential nutrients to reach their target sites.

5)The metabolic wastes are carried from various tissues and organs to the liver and kidney through blood.

Note: The other connective tissues found in our body are-
1)Adipose tissue whose main function is to store fat.
2)Bones and cartilages- Provides structural support to our body.
3)Lymph- It is also a fluid connective tissue.
