Humans have thrown away so much stuff all over the world that we are running out of places to put it. You will no longer go from the Antarctic to the top of Mount Everest, and even deep into the ocean, thousands of kilometres from shore, and thousands of feet deep, where you can't find loads of garbage.

Ways to reduce garbage are-
• Simply eating less is the best way to reduce our trash epidemic. We don't even need much of what we buy in the developing world. And because the tools that our grandchildren will use to survive are already being used, it only makes sense that we are dramatically cutting back on what we purchase today.
• The second best solution to waste reduction is to reuse, repurpose, upcycle, distribute, or freecycle items when their original intent can no longer be fulfilled. The burden of garbage on the globe can be minimised by something we can offer a second or third life. Lastly, many items can be recycled and their raw materials used in new ways. It is possible to extract bottles, plastics, aluminium cans, cardboard, paper, and even electronics, melt them down and turn them into new products.

However, recycling is really a last resort: even though items are recycled, recycling just kicks the can down the road for one generation in the vast majority of cases. The object will still be garbage, they can't or won't be recycled again at some point.
