Hint- Since, we know that negative numbers are smaller than positive numbers and negative numbers with larger magnitudes are smaller than numbers with smaller magnitudes. For Ex. $-49 < -18$, but positive numbers with larger magnitudes are greater than numbers with the smaller magnitudes. For Ex. $49 > 18$
Complete step-by-step answer:
Now to arrange the given numbers in ascending order i.e From lower magnitude to higher magnitude we have to follow a simple approach
-4, 7, 6, 0, -8, -11, 2, 14, -15, 9
First we scan the list and bring the number with a negative sign and the largest magnitude to the front. Here, the negative number with larger magnitude gives the lower value. So, the list becomes
-15, -4, 7, 6, 0, -8, -11, 2, 14, 9
Then, again we follow the same step with the rest of the list except for the first number as it is already in its place
-15, -11, -4, 7, 6, 0, -8, 2, 14, 9
Then, we bring -8 to the third place leaving the positions we have already filled with correct sequence
-15, -11, -8, -4, 7, 6, 0, 2, 14, 9
Now, as we scan the list except the first three positions, we find that -4 is in its right place
Then, we find the next smallest number in the list. Since, there are no negative numbers 0 will come next.
-15, -11, -8, -4, 0, 7, 6, 2, 14, 9
Then among positive numbers we find the number with smallest value or magnitude. Here, the positive number with smaller magnitude gives the lower value. So, the list becomes
-15, -11, -8, -4, 0, 2, 7, 6, 14, 9
Then again repeating the above step
-15, -11, -8, -4, 0, 2, 6, 7, 14, 9
Now, the next number 7 is already in its place. So, we again search the list for the smallest value i.e. the number just larger than 7
-15, -11, -8, -4, 0, 2, 6, 7, 9, 14
As we look at the list now, it is sorted or arranged in the ascending order.
Note- The list consists of all integers i.e. negative and positive numbers and ascending order means arranging the list from lowest number to the highest. Therefore, we will tackle the list in the same way and arrange the numbers from lowest to highest. Be careful while arranging the numbers as there is a chance of error as you can miss a number while arranging and that would make your answer completely wrong.
