Hint: Most of the disadvantages of global warming are related to changes in the surrounding and global environment. Global warming has resulted in the disruption of several naturally occurring phenomena. It is very closely related to another phenomena known as the greenhouse effect.

Complete answer:
An increase in the level of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere has resulted in global warming.

The disadvantages of global warming are as follows:
> Weather and Climate Changes: If the current rate of global warming continues the frequency of natural calamities like drought and flood may increase and become more frequent. Climate changes like the El Nino effect will be more frequently observable. Change is the pattern of precipitation that will also take place and in some places, these are already happening.
> Changes in the Sea level: With the increase in global warming, the temperature is rising which is causing thermal expansion of seawater resulting in the rise of sea level. This is greatly accompanied by the melting of polar ice caps and ice sheets in Greenland.
> Atmospheric Changes: Global warming has resulted in temperature rise in the troposphere and cooling of other atmospheric layers like the stratosphere and thermosphere.

Additional Information:
Several Global efforts have been made to reduce the global warming phenomenon:
> Montreal Protocol: Limitations were placed on the use and production of ODS or ozone-depleting substances like CFC and HFC.
> Intergovernmental Panel on Climate changes: Established a world climatic system.
- Kyoto Protocol: Its main aim was to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.
- Beijing Protocol: Its aims were similar to that of the Montreal Protocol, which was to reduce the emission of ozone-depleting substances.
> UN Convention on Climate Change: The main aim was to bring a reduction in global warming rates.
> World Earth Summit: It focused on the idea of sustainable development without the depletion of biodiversity.

Note: It is to be remembered that the effects of global warming are already visible and it's rising at an enormous rate. The whole island of Maldives, almost 12% of Bangladesh and many more important cities of the world are already submerged due to the rise in sea level. Droughts have resulted in desertification of many cities around the world.
