Hint: An electric cell that can be rechargeable and can therefore be used to store electrical energy in the form of chemical energy is called a secondary cell. The secondary cells have several applications in a variety of fields like automobiles, tools, households, etc.
Complete answer:
Secondary cells consist of one or more electrochemical cells. These are rechargeable due to the reversible reaction in them. These are lightweight and portable and are hence used for multiple purposes. Various applications of secondary cells are –
-Remote controls, and automobile starters
-Portable devices like mobile phones.
-Light vehicles like golf carts, electric bicycles, etc.
-UPS and batteries.
-Laptops and Computers.
-Toys. Etc.
Note:
There are two types of cells – primary and secondary cells. The main difference between them is that the reaction in primary cells is irreversible and thus these are non-rechargeable while the reaction in secondary cells is reversible making it rechargeable.
