Hint:We have to understand the term gravity first. Gravity is defined as the force which acts upon masses. A body having heavier mass always attracts a smaller body at a distance from it. It follows the inverse square law. Any body on earth experiences an acceleration due to free fall known as acceleration due to gravity.
Complete answer:
There are a lot of uncountable applications of gravity. Here we are presenting some. They are as follows:
(i) The prediction about the acceleration and the time period of satellites around the Earth are accurately measured with the help of gravity.
(ii) The motion of planets, their time period, acceleration, speed are calculated with the help of gravity.
(iii) The solar eclipse and lunar eclipse are also predicted accurately due to the gravity.
(iv) Due to the presence of gravitational force, we can produce electricity from water by building dams.
(v) Due to the presence of gravity, we remain on the surface of Earth, while in space everything just floats due to its absence.
(vi) Due to the presence of gravity, the rivers continue to flow from one place to another. Or else one part will have an adequate amount of water while the other would starve for it.
(vii) Various industrial works like gravity separation and others, are done with the help of gravity.
Note: It must be noted that gravity only works when there are two bodies around.Gravity cannot work only with the presence of one body. Acceleration due to gravity changes as we move distances. While the Universal Gravitational constant remains the same everywhere.
