The catalysts are mainly divided into four types, and that is, homogeneous catalyst, heterogeneous catalyst, heterogenized homogeneous catalyst and biocatalyst. In the case of homogeneous catalysts, both catalyst and reactant are present in the same phase. But in heterogeneous catalysts, both reactant and catalyst are present in the different phases.
