Hint: To induce delivery there is a requirement of certain hormones that control the reflex action to deliver the baby out during parturition, when the hormone is not in that definite quantity which is required for the procedure the doctors inject it artificially from outside to carry out the process smoothly.
Complete answer:
The average duration of human pregnancy is about 9 months 38 weeks after fertilization which is called the gestation period. Vigorous contractions of the uterus at the end of pregnancy causes the expulsion or the delivery of foetus. This process of delivery of foetus or the child birth is known as parturition. In general, parturition is induced by a complex neuroendocrine mechanism. The signals for parturition originate from the fully developed foetus and the placenta which induce mild uterine contractions called the foetal ejection reflex. This triggers the release of Oxytocin from the maternal pituitary. Oxytocin acts on the uterine muscle and causes stronger uterine contractions which in turn stimulates the further secretion of Oxytocin. The stimulatory reflex between the uterine contraction and Oxytocin secretion continues and results in stronger and stronger contractions. This leads to the expulsion of the baby out of the uterus through the birth Canal. Soon after the Infant is delivered, the Placenta is also expelled out of the uterus. But sometimes Oxytocin does not work as per the requirement because of being deficient in amount and In that case the doctors artificial inject oxytocin to induce delivery.
Note: Doctors artificially inject Oxytocin to induce strong uterine contraction to deliver baby out of the uterus during parturition.
