Hint: These belong to the well-differentiated category of plants. These are a major part of the plant kingdom and are considered of great importance. This is one of the traditional methods of classification and is still followed by many botanists while classifying plant kingdom. This is a subkingdom but it is further divided into two kingdoms.

• These are multicellular plants.

• They have a well defined vascular system containing xylem and phloem.
• The life cycle is completed in two generations and hence represents an alternation of generation.
Phanerogams are additionally partitioned into gymnosperms and angiosperms based on seeds that are encased in an organic product or not. Gymnosperms produce seeds that are not encased by leafy foods are called naked seeds but angiosperms produce seeds that are encased in covering.

Note: Phanerogams are multicellular, seed-bearing, chlorophyll-containing plants. They have a sporophytic body and are diploid. They are classified under plant kingdom and differ from cryptogams. They are further divided into gymnosperms (naked seed plants) and Angiosperms (covered seed plants).
