Complete answer: The word 'Phanerogamae' involves the words 'phaneros' signifying 'obvious' and 'gamos' suggesting 'proliferation'. They show attributes like-
• Well-separated and noticeable regenerative tissues that eventually make seeds.

• These are also called spermatocytes.
• The body is divided into leaves, shoots, and roots.
• These also contain chlorophyll.
• They have a well defined vascular system containing xylem and phloem.
• The life cycle is completed in two generations and hence represents an alternation of generation.
Phanerogams are additionally partitioned into gymnosperms and angiosperms based on seeds that are encased in an organic product or not. Gymnosperms produce seeds that are not encased by leafy foods are called naked seeds but angiosperms produce seeds that are encased in covering.
Note: Phanerogams are multicellular, seed-bearing, chlorophyll-containing plants. They have a sporophytic body and are diploid. They are classified under plant kingdom and differ from cryptogams. They are further divided into gymnosperms (naked seed plants) and Angiosperms (covered seed plants).
