Hint: The Pallavas conflicted with major kingdoms at various periods of time. A contest for political supremacy existed between Pallavas – Kadambas and also, between Pallavas – Cholas.

Complete answer: The word Pallava literally implies a creeper or branch in Sanskrit. The Pallavas, known as the former subsidiaries of Satavahanas in the Andhradesa (the region north of Penna River in modern Andhra Pradesh) later expanded south up to Kanchi. Also, it is believed that they initially rose to power in Kanchi and expanded north up to the Krishna river.
The fight for political supremacy existed between Pallavas and the Kadambas. Numerous Kadamba inscriptions provide details of Pallava-Kadamba hostilities. Kadamba dynasty's Mayurasharma established himself in the forests of Sriparvatam after defeating the Antharapalas of the Pallavas.
The Pallavas conquered Kanchi from the Cholas as mentioned in the Velurpalaiyam Plates. It happened around the reign of the fifth king of the Pallava line Kumaravishnu I. Thereafter Kanchi figures and depicted in inscriptions as the capital of the Pallavas.
The Cholas defeated Pallavas and thrown them away from Kanchi in the middle of the 4th century, in the kingship of Vishugopa. He was the tenth king of the Pallava line. The Pallavas, again conquered the Kanchi in the middle of 6th century, under the leadership of Simhavishnu, the 14th ruler of the Pallava line, whom the Kasakudi plates state as "the lion of the earth". And then Pallavas hold Kanchi until the reign of their last king, Vijaya-Nripatungavarman.
Thus, the option (A) is correct.

Note: The Pallava dynasty was considered an Indian dynasty whose existence revolvesd around 275 CE to 897 CE. They ruled a portion of the southern side of India. They were prominent after the Satavahana dynasty, to whom the Pallavas served as feudatories.
