Hint: As the house is built on a rectangular plot, so this problem can be solved by the use of the formula i.e. Area of the Rectangle = \[~Length\times Breadth\]. We just need to put the value of length and breadth in this particular area formula and we will get our answer.

Complete step-by-step answer:
Before solving this question, we must know about calculating the area of a rectangle.
To calculate the area of a rectangle, we multiply the length of the rectangle with the breadth of the rectangle, in other words, we find the product of the length and the breadth of the rectangle.
Let us take an example. Say the length of a rectangle is 5 centimeter and the breadth is 3 centimeter. To find the area of this rectangle, we will multiply its length by its breadth, i.e. we will multiply 5 by 3. The product of 5 and 3 is 15. So, the area of this rectangle is 15 \[{{cm}^{2}}\] .

According to the question,
Length of the rectangular plot = 21 meter
Breadth of the rectangular plot = 17 meter
Area of the rectangular plot \[=Length\times Breadth=21\times 17\] = 357 \[{{m}^{2}}\]
Therefore, the area of the rectangular plot on which the house is to be built is 357 \[{{m}^{2}}\]

NOTE:-
One must know the formulas of finding the area of the basic 2–dimensional shapes. Here are some of the formulas:-
SQUARE: \[Side\times Side\]
RECTANGLE: \[~Length\times Breadth\]
CIRCLE: \[\pi {{r}^{2}}\]
Etc.
