Hint: A body is said to have uniform velocity if the body is travelling an equal distance in equal interval of time, and in a particular direction. The term uniform velocity is used to express a constant rate of change of distance per unit time, i.e., when the velocity is constant, we can also say that we are moving with uniform velocity.
Complete Step-by-Step solution:
So, as we know that uniform velocity is the displacement travelled which remains unchanged during a fixed interval of time, also the direction remains unchanged.
Also, if a body has a constant velocity, then the body is said to be in uniform motion. But if the magnitude or direction of the velocity changes, or both changes, then the body is not in uniform motion, as the velocity is not uniform.
If the body is in uniform motion or we can say moving with uniform velocity, then the net external force on the body is zero.
The graph below shows the uniform velocity, refer to it to understand better.
The graph is a straight line and shows uniform velocity.
As we know that velocity depends on both displacement and time.
Also, the body is said to be moving with a constant velocity if it travels on a straight path with constant speed.
So, to have uniform velocity the displacement travelled by the body should be equal in equal interval of time and in the same direction.
Note – Don’t confuse uniform velocity and constant speed. An object may have a constant speed but still its velocity can be changing, as velocity is a vector. And velocity depends on the displacement and time, if there is uniform change in displacement that too in a fixed direction, then the velocity is uniform, as mentioned in the solution.
