Chapter 15 in the Class 3 Environmental Science textbook is about the materials used to make clay pots and the method of doing it. The chapter begins with a story of two birds and how one of them goes to lengths to procure materials to make a pot to carry water in it. The chapter then explains how the discovery of pots came about and how people before that only used different kinds of vessels to store their food. From a bigger perspective, this chapter teaches students that it does no good to oneself by being greedy as was the case with the bad crow Bhanate.

Bhanate, the greedy crow, wanted some water from the river to wash his beak before he could eat Phugudi’s eggs. But the river asked him to get a pot to fill the water in which he didn’t have. So Bhanate had to go to a lot of people to collect all the things needed to make a pot starting from the potter who asked him to bring some clay from the clay pit. The clay pit asked the crow to bring a trowel to dig a pit. Then the crow went to the blacksmith who gave him a trowel from which he could dig the pot and get the clay. After he received the clay he took it to the potter to get his pot made.
