While you are preparing for such an important exam of your life there may be several questions floating in your mind. One of them is, “Does the NCERT exemplar contain NCERT textbook solutions?” The answer is ‘no’. The following discussion intends to let you know about the basic difference between NCERT exemplar and NCERT solutions. As a class 10 board exam aspirant, you should not confuse between these two things.

What are NCERT Textbook Solutions?

The NCERT textbook solutions are the books that form the foundation of a particular subject. You will get the explanations of the basic and fundamentals of each topic and some exercise questions in the NCERT textbook solutions. It is simply the best way to test your knowledge and understanding of the basics. Even if you ask the teachers and subject matter experts, they will tell you there cannot be a better option than NCERT textbook solutions for boosting up your basic knowledge of a subject.

What is NCERT Exemplar?

After the perfect completion of NCERT textbook solutions, you should go for NCERT exemplar to brush up your knowledge on the basis of your basics. The exemplar is something different from the NCERT textbook solutions. What does NCERT exemplar actually contain? Some twists in questions and a level of difficulty are introduced in NCERT exemplar. The level of questions, the trickiness of the problems is much higher than the NCERT textbook solutions. NCERT exemplars are also termed as ‘HOTS’ (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions.

So, They aren’t the Same, are They?

Now after knowing about both the segments you can easily get the idea that NCERT exemplar and NCERT textbook solutions are completely different with regard to content, types of questions, etc. While NCERT textbook solutions contain only basic questions, NCERT exemplar contains really harder problems. You can’t directly go for the NCERT exemplar.

What Should be Your Preparation Strategy?

If you go for the NCERT exemplar without knowing the basics it will be a real mess up. What should you do? Firstly, you should go through the NCERT textbook solutions thoroughly. Your first target must be to build up your basics. If you have a hold on your basics it will be easy for you to go for the NCERT examples. If you have vivid knowledge about the basics NCERT examples will be solved by you easily. NCERT examples contain various types of problems. If your foundation is clear you will be able to compete at this level.

From the above topic, it is clear that there are lots of differences between NCERT exemplar and NCERT textbook solutions. Both are of different genres. But, they are also complementary to each other. NCERT exemplar can’t be solved without the knowledge about the NCERT book. On the other hand, only mere knowledge of NCERT textbook solutions will not be fruitful enough until and unless you go for the NCERT exemplar. Your target should be to finish the NCERT textbook solutions as early as possible to build up your basics and then go for the examples for solving more difficult problems.
