CUET 2022 Ranking system

The CUET 2022 ranking system will be based on the CUET 2022 results. The results are yet to be announced by the conducting bodies. The tentative schedule for the CUET 2022 results is 2 to 4 days after the completion of the final phase of the CUET examinations.

Let us look at the ranking system that is to be followed in the CUET 2022 examinations. The CUET 2022 ranking system includes the discussion of the score calculations, rank calculations as well as the normalisation process.

Let us begin our discussion with score calculations in CUET 2022.

CUET 2022 Score Calculations

Since the CUET examinations are calculated in multiple phases, the score is calculated through the normalisation process. The following steps are involved in the CUET 2022 score calculations.

  • In the normalisation process, the percentile of each candidate is calculated based on the raw score.

  • The raw score is the total marks obtained by the students in the CUET 2022 examinations.

  • The highest percentile of a particular session is taken into consideration. For example, if the highest marks which students score are 99 out of 100; then the percentile would be 100.

  • The highest percentile for every session would be recorded.

  • The percentile score will contain up to 7 decimal places. This is done to calculate the exact score.

  • Based on this percentile score, the ranks are calculated.

Normalisation Formula

Total percentile (100) = (Number of candidates appeared from the session with raw score less or equal to total percentil) / (Total number of candidates appeared in the session)

Note: In case 2 or more students have the same percentile, there are tie-breaker methods discussed later in the article.

CUET 2022 Rank Calculation

The CUET 2022 ranks will be calculated on the basis of the CUET 2022 percentile score. Although the percentile scores will be released by CUET, the individual merit list of the participating colleges will be released by receptive institutions.

It can be better explained as candidates who scored 100 percentile will have the first rank according to the merit list of the college. It is very important to understand that merit lists and ranks will be determined by the respective universities cut off.

CUET 2022 Tie-breaker Method

The following step would be taken if 2 or more candidates have the same percentile and apply for the same college and same branch (course).

  • Their Class 12 board scores or the percentage will serve as a tiebreaker for allotment in the event that two students with the same CUET score select the same college and course as their first choices.
