The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is a Math Olympiad conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) every year for the students of Classes 1 to 12. It is a well-known mathematics competition that aims to test the student's knowledge and understanding of Math. The exam is conducted in two levels - Level 1 & Level 2. All the students from Classes 1 to 12 are eligible to participate in Level 1 while Level 2 is held only for the students in Classes 3 to 12.
The participating students can assess their intellectual level in a particular subject and evaluate their ability to solve various sums on a school, local, zonal, and worldwide level. Since the exam is conducted every year by SOF, students who are aiming to participate in IMO this year should start preparing for the exam.

SOF IMO Level 1 exams will be conducted on November 10, November 22, and December 13, 2022

SOF IMO 2022 Highlights
All the students who want to test their mathematical skills on a global level can participate in the SOF IMO exam 2022. The IMO exam is conducted in two levels where only the top performing students in Level 1 can enter the Level 2 exam.
Here are the eligibility criteria to take the IMO exam 2022:
All the students from classes 1 to 12 can participate in the IMO exam
The Level 1 exam will be held for Class 1 to 12 students.
However, the participating school must be affiliated with a certified education board such as CBSE, ICSE, etc.
Only the students who have passed the Level 1 exam are eligible to participate in the Level 2 exams. Here are the eligibility criteria:
Top 5% of students from each class, who have appeared for the Level 1 exam.
Top 25 rank holders state-wise and
Class topper from each participating school where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam and score 50% qualifying marks.
Note - Students from classes 1 and 2 will be ranked based on their performance in the first level exam. They are not required to appear for the 2nd level exam.
Mode of Application: Offline
Since the applications can be submitted only offline, all the willing students who want to participate in the IMO exam should contact their respective schools. The respective authority would send the registration forms to the school management
Firstly, the participating schools must get themselves registered with the SOF. Then, the schools will be sent a prospectus containing the registration forms.
Students need to fill out the forms with the relevant details and submit them to their respective schools.
Keep in mind that students aren’t allowed to apply on their own to the exam. It can only be done through school authorities.
Students are required to pay an application fee of INR 125 per student along with the application fee.
In the case of international students, a fee of US$9 is applicable per student.
The SOF International Mathematics Olympiad is conducted at two levels:
Level 1: The first level of the exam is organized at the respective schools during school hours:
50 objective-type questions for classes 5 through 12
35 multiple-choice questions for classes 1 through 4
There are four sections in the exam: Logical Analysis, Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Math, Achievers Section
There are separate question papers for each date of the exam
The medium of the test is English
The syllabus of the test papers is created using the curriculum of the State Board, ICSE/ISC, and CBSE.
Level 2: The Level 2 exam is conducted only for students from classes 3 to 12. Students who pass Level 1 will be qualified for Level 2. However, students from classes 1 and 2 will be ranked based on their performance in the first level exam. They are not required to appear for the 2nd level exam.
The SOF will declare the IMO result for the Level 1 exam in March 2023, tentatively.
