Formulas on Mean, Median, and Mode As Mentioned in RD Sharma Class 7 Chapter 23

Formulas are an important part of maths, chapter 23 - Data Handling II of class7 is not any different. Majorly the RD Sharma class 7 solutions chapter 23 - Data Handling II contains three formulas, these formulas are -

  • Mean: Mean formula is defined as the sum of all the observations divided by the total number of observations.

Mean Formula = (Sum of all the Observations) ÷ (Total Numbers of Observations, n)

  • Median: To find the median of a given observation, we first need to arrange the data in ascending or descending order. There are two formulas to find the median of an observation.

If the total number of observations (n) is Odd then, then

Median = $(\frac{n+1}{2})$th observation

If the total no. of observations (n) is even, then

Median = ($(\frac{n}{2})$th observation + $(\frac{n}{2}+1)$th observation ) / 2

  • Mode: The observation or value which most frequently occurs is considered as the Mode.

Hence, the second part of the Data Handling (chapter 23 - Data handling II) discusses the central values of the data. There are three types of central values - mean, median, and mode. Exercise 23.2 exclusively targets the procedure to find the arithmetic mean of grouped data.

FAQs on RD Sharma Class 7 Solutions Chapter 23 - Data Handling II (Ex 23.2) Exercise 23.2

1. Where can I access the solutions of chapter 23 other exercises?

Chapter 23 - Data Handling consists of 4 exercises, students can access the solutions to all the questions in those exercises from the links given below to the relevant pages of the website of Vedantu.

Given below are the links to the solutions of all four exercise questions of chapter 23 of RD Sharma of class 7 -

2. Which are the ways of measuring central values of a sequence of given data as per chapter 23?

The chapter deals with the central values of data handling. The central value of Data is just the average of the collected data or the given data. There are three major ways to calculate the central values of the given data. - mean, median and mode.

Mean: Mean, also known as the arithmetic mean, is the division of the sum of all the numbers given in a data set and the total count of those numbers.

Median: Middle-most value of a given data set is called Median, only if the data set is arranged in ascending order.

Mode: The value which appears most frequently in a data set, is known as the Mode of that data set.

3. How many questions are there in this second exercise (23.2) of chapter 23 - Data Handling II of class 7?

RD Sharma class 7 solutions of chapter 23 - Data Handling II consists of four exercises. The second one, exercise 23.2 comprises only 12 questions, but all the 12 questions are long answer type questions. These questions will require the student to calculate the mean of a grouped data set. The questions are filled with a lot of calculations, and the students must learn the formula to find an arithmetic mean of grouped data.
