1. Why should class 7 students study Data Handling?
Data Handling is a chapter that is introduced to class 7 students that tells them about the collection and organization of data. The Median is the middle value or the center value of any given set of numbers. To calculate the median-
The student should first arrange the given data in ascending order.
Then the student should count how many numbers are there in the set.
If it's an odd number then divide it by 2 and round up to get the position of the median value.
If it's an even number then divide by it 2. This will give the position of a number. Average that number with the next higher position to get the Median.
4. Why do we need to collect data?
We need to collect data to extract the desired information from it. The collection of data relies upon the particular requirement and thus before the collection of any data, the usage of data should be known by the student. For example, if we need the average number of runs, Virat Kolhi scored in a particular test series, we need the data of how many runs he scored in each match in that particular series. This is why data collection is important to take out the desired outcome.
5. What is the mode of numbers and how to take out the mode of 5 numbers?
In the Data Handling chapter of class 7, students are taught the concept of mode. Mode is that value in a given set of numbers that occurs the most number of times. In other words, the value which has the highest frequency or that appears the most number of times is called the Mode. To take out the mode of 5 numbers, the student should arrange the data in ascending order and check which of the numbers occurs the most. For example, If the given set is ( 2,1,3,3,3), then after rearranging it in ascending order it comes as (1,2,3,3,3). As seen, the number ‘3’ is repeated the most number of times. Thus the mode of the given set is ‘3’.
