Gujarat Government Opening 589 Vocational Schools

Gujarat Government will soon open 589 new government and grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary vocational schools with 13 new vocational skills on offer. The admission process in these schools will begin between September and October this year. 


The aim of such schools is to increase the professional knowledge of students and opportunities for vocational skills. These 589 schools are approved by the Government of India’s Samagra Shiksha under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. All these schools will majorly operate in Gujarati medium. 


Gujarat Government to Start 589 Vocational Schools for 13 New Skills


The Education Minister, Jitu Vaghani listed the 13 new vocational skills which include apparel, agriculture, home furnishings, beauty & wellness, BFSI, automotive, food processing, electronics, IT/ITES, plumber, retail, sports, physical education, fitness & leisure, tourism & hospitality, and health care. 


These newly sanctioned schools can take a minimum of 40 students in one particular vocational trade. The schools across all 33 districts will work on the new two-year pattern introduced under NEP 2020. The counselling process of teachers and parents is also on the go to explain them the benefits of such skills in the overall progress of a student. 


The curriculum, textbooks, and training modulus for these courses have been designed by Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal
