Students can find the official announcement and further details on the CBSE website at cbse.gov.in. The examination period is expected to last for approximately 55 days, concluding on April 10, 2024.
The official notification read as, “CBSE will conduct Board examinations for the academic year 2023-24. for classes X and XII from the 15th of February 2024 onwards. These examinations will be conducted for a period of approximately 55 days and are expected to conclude by the 10th of April 2024.

Joseph Emanuel, the Director of CBSE (Academics), announced earlier this year that changes would be implemented in the examination and assessment practices for the academic session 2023-24. These changes aim to align the assessment with Competency Focused Education.
In the CBSE Class 10 board exams, half of the questions (50%) will be competency-based and may encompass various formats such as multiple choice questions (MCQs), case-based questions, source-based integrated questions, or others.
Similarly, in the CBSE Class 12 board exams, 40% of the questions will be competency-focused and may include formats like MCQs, case-based questions, source-based integrated questions, or others.
These changes reflect CBSE's efforts to enhance the assessment process and foster a competency-oriented approach to education.
