For their preparation, students can refer to the following additional study materials provided by Vedantu –

Chapter 1 – Chemical Reactions and Equations

In previous classes, students have learnt about the physical and chemical changes of matter. In this chapter, they will learn about chemical reactions and equations. Students learn how to write chemical equations wherein reactants are written on the left-hand side (LHS) with a plus sign in between, and the products are written on the right-side hand (RHS) with a plus sign in between. The arrowhead between the reactants and the products points towards the products and shows the direction of the reaction. They also learn to write the chemical formula instead of words, balance chemical reactions, types of chemical reactions (combination reaction, decomposition reaction, displacement reaction, double displacement reaction, oxidation, and reduction), and the effects of oxidation reactions in everyday life (corrosion, rancidity).

There are three exercises in the chapter and one NCERT exercise at the end. Exercise 1 has three questions. Exercise 2 has 2 questions. The last exercise has 3 questions. In the NCERT exercise, there are 20 questions. The answers to all these questions are given in Hindi in the NCERT Solutions for Class 10 Science Hindi medium provided by Vedantu. Students can also access the following additional study materials provided by Vedantu for Chapter 1 “Chemical Reactions and Equations” –

Chapter 2 – Acids, Bases and Salts

In this chapter, students learn more about acids, bases, and salts. They will learn about the chemical properties of acids and bases, including testing substances using indicators to know if it is an acid or a base, reaction of acids and bases with metals, reaction of metal carbonates and metal hydrogen carbonates with acids, the reaction of acids and bases with each other, reaction of metallic oxides with acids, the reaction of a non-metallic oxide with base, similar properties of acids and bases, effects of an acid or base in a water solution, finding the number of ions in a solution to determine its pH value, the importance of pH in everyday life, the family of salts, pH of salts, chemicals from common salt, and their uses.

In Vedantu’s NCERT Solutions for Science in Hindi Class 10, students will find the answers for 1 question from Intext Exercise 1, 3 questions from Intext Exercise 2, 6 questions from Intext Exercise 3, 4 questions from Intext Exercise 4, 5 questions from Intext Exercise 5 and 15 questions from the NCERT exercise. Chapter 3 of Class 10 Science is a continuation on the topic of metals and non-metals, from Class 9 Science. It begins with the physical properties of metals, including physical state, hardness, metallic lustre, ductility, malleability, conduction, density, melting and boiling point, alloy formation, and sonorous. The chapter also talks about the physical properties of non-metals and the comparisons between the properties of metals and non-metals.

It also talks about the exceptions such as all metals except mercury exist as solids at room temperature, all metals except gallium and caesium have high melting points, iodine is a lustrous non-metal, carbon exists in different forms despite being a non-metal, and the densities and melting points of alkali metals are low. The classification of metals and non-metals can be done more clearly based on their chemical properties, including reactions with oxygen, water, acids, and salt solutions.

The chapter also talks about the electronic nature of metals and non-metals, reactivity series of metals, bonding, electrovalent bonding, formation of sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, properties of electrovalent compounds, covalent bonds, formation of covalent bonds, covalency, O2 molecules, carbon dioxide molecules, molecules with triple bonds, hydrogen cyanide molecule, general properties of covalent compounds, the occurrence of metals, types of ores, metals in a free state and combined state and metallurgy.
