NTA has released the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam dates on its official website. JEE Main 2022 will be conducted in June and July, and JEE Advanced 2022 will be conducted on 28th August. The registration for JEE Main has already begun on 1 Mar 2022 and that for JEE Advanced will begin on 7 August 2022. Eligible candidates should register for the exams within the stipulated period. The complete details of JEE Main & JEE Advanced 2022 like registration, application form, exam dates, eligibility criteria, exam centers, admit card, etc. are discussed in the following sections.
Considering the difficulties faced by candidates in filling up the online application forms for JEE Main June session, NTA has extended the registration window till 5th April 2022. Consequently, the last date to pay the application fee has also been extended to 5th April 2022. Candidates aspiring to appear in JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations in 2022, must note the important dates for registration, application fee payment, admit card download, exam sessions, results, etc. as tabulated below.
JEE Main is likely to be on the lower end of the spectrum in terms of difficulty level when compared to JEE Advanced. You just need to be thorough with all the concepts of Classes 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (for JEE Main Paper 1), practice JEE Main previous year question papers and sample papers, and take JEE Main mock tests online to analyze your speed and weak areas.
This year, JEE Main is going to be held in two sessions- June and July.
Candidates completing 12th Board or equivalent examinations in 2020, 2021, and 2022 can appear in JEE Main without meeting any age criteria.
NTA will not provide any correction window for JEE Main application form 2022.
JEE Main 2022 will be conducted at 501 centres in our country and 13 centres abroad.
There will be negative marking for every incorrect answer in Section B of JEE Main paper 1 and paper 2.
The eligibility of JEE Main 2022 is defined by certain criteria such as the qualifying exams, passing marks, etc. The detailed eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2022 are discussed below.
1. Age Limit:
This year, NTA has declared that there will be no age limit for the candidates applying for JEE Main. Candidates who have passed/will pass their 12th Boards or equivalent examinations in 2020, 2021, or 2022, can appear in JEE Main this year, irrespective of any age limit. However, they may have to fulfill the age requirement of their preferred colleges at the time of admission.
Candidates who have passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination in or before 2019 and candidates who will be taking the Class 12 or equivalent examination in or after 2023 will not be eligible for JEE Main 2022.
2. Qualifying Examinations: Below is the list of the qualifying examinations listed by NTA for JEE Main 2022.
Senior Secondary School Examination with minimum 5 subjects, conducted by National Institute of Open Schooling.
10+2 final examination conducted by any state board or central board.
Intermediate examination or two-year Pre-Universtiy examination conducted by any recognized board or university.
Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
Final examination of the two-year long course of NDA’s Joint Services Wing.
Any Board or Public School or University examination in our country or in any foreign country, recognised as 10+2 equivalent examination by the Association of Indian Universities.
General Certificate Education examination at an A level or Advanced level.
International Baccalaureate Office’s (at Geneva) International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Cambridge University’s High School Certificate Examination.
An AICTE or State Board of technical education recognised Diploma of a duration of at least 3 years.
Candidates having done their Class 12 or equivalent examination from any Board not specified above or from any country outside India, will be required to produce a valid certificate from the Association of Indian Universities. The certificate should state that the examination they have cleared is equivalent to the Class 12 examination.
If the equivalent examination is not a public examination, candidates must provide proofs of having passed at least one public examination (Pre-University or Board) earlier.
NTA has declares that there will be no correction window allotted for JEE Main 2022 application forms. So, they must fill in all details carefully, at the time of registration.
To ensure the convenience of candidates appearing for JEE Main from all corners of the India and overseas, NTA has increased the number of examination centres, this year. JEE Main 2022 will be conducted at 501 examination centres in India and 13 examination centres overseas. Each candidate will be allowed to enter four choices for their preferred examination centres. Candidates are suggested to enter their preferences very carefully as there will be no window for making corrections once they submit their JEE Main 2022 application forms.
JEE Main 2022 question paper will be available in English, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Kannada, Assamese, Odia, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi, and Telugu.
NTA has announced to conduct JEE Main in two phases, this year. The exam dates for the first session are revised and it will be conducted on 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th June 2022. The second phase will be conducted on 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th July 2022. Check the table below for the revised exam dates of JEE Main 2022.
JEE Main Paper 1 is conducted for the B. Tech aspirants and Paper 2 is conducted for B. Arch and B. Plan aspirants. Each subject in JEE Main 2022 Paper 1 and Paper 2 Part I will comprise two sections. The first section (Section A) will consist of multiple choice questions whereas, the second section (Section B) will consist of numerical value type questions. Due to the reduced 12th Boards examination syllabus, there will be choice in section B. Candidates will have to attempt any 5 questions out of 10 from Section B.
According to the latest update from NTA, there will be negative marking for Section A as well as Section B of JEE Main Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates will have to enter the numerical value type answers using the virtual keypad on the screen and the mouse. Also, the answers should be rounded off to the nearest integer.
Candidates qualifying JEE Main will be considered eligible for JEE Advanced 2022. The exam schedule for JEE Advanced 2022 has been released by IIT Bombay. The exam will take place on 28th August 2022 and comprises two papers– Paper 1 and Paper 2 of three hours duration each. The JEE Advanced AAT 2022 paper will be conducted for 3 hours as well. There will be two shifts in which JEE Advanced will be held. The top 2,50,000 candidates qualifying JEE Main will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2022.

As per the relaxation in the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2022, candidates who appeared in 12th Board examinations in 2020 or 2021 for the first time, and registered successfully for JEE Advanced 2021, but failed to appear for Paper 1 and Paper 2, can directly apply for JEE Advanced 2022.
Candidates who have appeared in 12th Board examinations for the first time in 2020 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2022, provided they fulfill certain conditions.
AAT will be held online on Sep 14, 2022.
Candidates should go through the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2022 before registering for the examination. The 75% minimum mark requirement in 12th Board examination or ranking among the top 20 percentile in 12th Boards examination have been waived off by NTA. Only those who meet all eligibility criteria as declared by NTA, will be eligible for the exam. The new updates on JEE Advanced 2022 eligibility criteria are discussed below.
One-time Measures: Due to the adverse impact of COVID-19, NTA has introduced the below-given exceptional one-time measures in the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2022.
As per the one-time measures, candidates who have appeared or completed their 12th Board examinations in 2020 or 2021, and registered for JEE Advanced 2021, but were unable to take both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the examination, will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2022 directly.
They will not have to fulfill any other eligibility criteria of the examination. Also, they will not be considered among the candidates who would clear JEE Main 2022 for appearing in JEE Advanced 2022. Only, these candidates will have to register for JEE Advanced 2022 and pay the required registration fee. This one-time measure is not applicable for candidates who appeared for their 12th Board examinations before 2020.
Candidates who appeared in their 12th Board examinations in 2020 for the first time will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2022 if they meet the following criteria. (i) they should have appeared in JEE Advanced either in 2020 or in 2021; or they should have not appeared at all in JEE Advanced Paper 1 or/and Paper 2, in 2020 and 2021.
They should meet their respective category-wise cut-off of the top 2,50,000 candidates appearing in JEE Main 2022, to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2022. This one-time measure will not be applicable for candidates who appeared in their 12th Board examinations for the first time before 2020. Also, this is applicable only for candidates who will be appearing in JEE Advanced for the first or second time in 2022. They will be considered an addition to the total number of candidates qualifying JEE Main 2022 for appearing in JEE Advanced 2022. Candidates will not be permitted to appear in JEE Advanced for more than two times.
