Apart from the difficulty level of the questions asked in the question paper, the pattern of the JEE Advanced 2015 was on the harder edge. It contained Multiple Answers Correct and Numerical Answer-type questions only, with no Single Answer Correct type questions at all. Also, it was claimed that the questions were moderate yet time-consuming. This made the overall paper a bit lengthy to be solved within the provided time constraints.

Marking Scheme in JEE Advanced 2015

The marking scheme of JEE Advanced is quite unique. The marking scheme is discussed below that was followed in the JEE Advanced 2015 Paper I and II.

JEE Advanced total marks 2015 was 504. From the above analysis, it is pretty clear that the marking scheme was a bit different from the other years' papers. The paper consisted of Multiple Answers Correct type and Numerical Answer type questions only. There were no Single Answer Correct type questions in either paper-1 or paper-2. It could also be deduced that the questions carried relatively higher negative markings than usual.

JEE Advanced 2015 Cutoff

Cutoff is the minimum marks that a student needs to score to be able to clear the exam and, eventually, get into reputed colleges. However, that is never possible since scores keep changing every year and there is no fixed formula to calculate a specific year’s cutoff marks. JEE Advanced 2015 cutoff marks with the category is discussed in the following table.

Conclusion

The detailed analysis of the Question Paper of JEE Advanced 2015 (JEE Advanced overview, weightage of questions subject wise, cutoff, etc.) is provided in this article. It is an important practice to analyse the previous year's question papers of JEE Advanced before appearing for the examination. It will help students to get familiar with the difficulty level of the examination and its patterns which will further help them in making adjustments to their preparation strategy where needed.

FAQs on JEE Advanced 2015 Question Paper Analysis

1. Was the JEE Advanced 2015 paper tough?

JEE Advanced 2015 paper was overall moderate in toughness level. The questions were not hard to solve, but at the same time, not very easy either. Although there were reasons for this, students did not score as much as they could have scored according to the difficulty level of the questions asked in the paper. The first reason was the length of the paper. This was observed by most of the candidates that year. The second reason for the relative drop in the score was the pattern of the paper. The paper of JEE Advanced 2015 was framed in one of the toughest formats. It had all multiple-select questions only, and most of the questions had high negative markings. These were the reasons for which the JEE Advanced 2015 paper might be considered to lean more towards the tougher side.

2. What were the full marks of the JEE Advanced 2015 question papers?

The maximum marks of JEE Advanced 2015 papers was 504 in total constituting 264 marks for paper-1 and 240 marks for paper-2. The per subject overall weightage was 168 marks for each of the three subjects (physics, chemistry, and mathematics).

3. JEE Advanced 2015 marks vs rank?

4. Where can I download the JEE Advanced 2015 question paper and solution?

You can download all previous years' JEE Advanced question papers (from 2014 to the latest) and their solutions from Vedantu’s official website and Vedantu Learning App. For the JEE Advanced 2015 paper and solutions, you may go to the following link:

5. When was JEE Advanced 2015 conducted?

JEE Advanced 2015 was held on May 24th, 2015. The test was held in two modes; pen and paper mode and computer-based test mode on the same day. Students had to choose any one of the two modes at the time of their registration for JEE Advanced 2015. Paper-1 started at 9:00 am and ended at 12:00 pm. Paper-2 started at 2:00 pm and ended at 5:00 pm the same day.

6. How to solve the JEE Advanced 2015 question paper?

The main part of the strategy to be followed to solve most of the questions in the JEE Advanced 2015 question paper is ‘Time Management’. Sit to solve the papers (paper 1 and paper 2) for a 3-hour interval for each. As the paper was lengthy and had mostly moderate-level questions, we should save time wherever possible and be attentive while performing calculations to avoid making calculation errors and recalculating. At the end, compare your answers from the answer keys and go through the solutions provided. This way, you will be able to analyse and compare the approach you gave to the questions with those given in the solutions based on the accuracy and time required to solve them using different methods.

7. What was the mode of the JEE Advanced 2015 question paper?

JEE Advanced 2015 was conducted in both modes (pen and paper mode and computer-based test mode). Until 2017, JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education in both ‘Online’ (or Computer-Based Test) mode and ‘Offline’ (or Pen and Paper) mode. Since 2018, the National Test Agency has started conducting JEE and the paper has started to be held in computer-based test mode only.
