What are the Differences in the Syllabus of the JEE Mains and the JEE Advanced?

The IIT JEE examination is divided into two parts—the JEE Mains and the JEE Advanced. Those who qualify in the JEE Mains are allowed to take the JEE Advanced. If you are new to this world of JEE this piece of information is vital for you. You will need to know just how to prepare specifically for both exams.

The IIT JEE Mains examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) while the JEE Advanced is conducted by the IITs themselves on rotational basis.

Sorry to disappoint you but it is not the exact same syllabus for both exams. 

There are some difference between JEE Main and JEE Advanced syllabus.

The difference between JEE Main for Mathematics and JEE Advanced syllabus for Mathematics does not differ much except in a few points. 

Topics in Mathematics such as Sets, Relations and Functions, Mathematical Induction, Binomial Theorem and its Applications, Sequences and Series, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics and Probability are there in the syllabus for Mains but not in the syllabus for Advanced. Topics like Differential Equations and Probability are exclusively there only for the JEE Advanced. 

The other topics for JEE Mains are Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations, Matrices And Determinants, Permutation And Combination, Limits Continuity And Differentiability, Integral Calculus, Co-Ordinate Geometry, Three Dimensional Geometry, Vectoral Algebra, Statistics And Probability, and Trigonometry.

The difference between JEE Main syllabus for Physics and JEE Advanced syllabus for Physics also does not differ much except in a few points. 

Topics such as Oscillations and Waves, Electromagnetic Waves, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Electronic Devices, Communication Systems, and Experimental Skills are exclusive to JEE Mains and not JEE Advanced.

Topics like Mechanics are exclusive to JEE Advanced but not JEE Mains.  

The other topics for JEE Mains Physics are Physics And Measurement, Kinematics, Laws Of Motion, Work, Energy And Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties Of Solids And Liquids, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory Of Gases, Electro statistics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects Of Current And Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction And Alternating Currents, Optics, and Dual Nature Of Matter And Radiation are there both in the JEE Mains and in the JEE Advanced.
