List of Humanoid Robots You Should Know About

Just imagine that you have got a robot that can do anything you want them to do. From cooking your food to making your bed and providing you with trivial information, every single thing that you ask from them, they deliver. They could even perform amazing feats such as complicated surgery or fixing your fracture. Surely, that seems like a wonderful thing, right? You must be thinking about whether something like that exists or not. Well, they do, and they are right amongst us as well.

We are talking about the andro humanoid robot that actually looks like human beings. These robots have been created to perform different tasks for humans. The robots have a specific design in which they actually resemble humans, and hence, they are called humanoid robots in the first place. The female humanoid robots that are created to look like females are sometimes called ‘fembots’ or ‘gynoids’.

With the advancement of innovation and technology, most organizations in multiple sectors, such as customer care or hospitality, are interested in developing humanoid robots. Not only are these robots less likely to make any errors, but they can work around the clock, non-stop, without having any hindrances as well.

In order to overcome the most common and obvious challenge of connecting with the customers, the organizations have not only built robots that look like ordinary people but also behave like them as well. they have been programmed using Artificial Intelligence to behave exactly the way humans do. So, on that note, let us take a look at the 5 famous humanoid robots that are currently changing the world as we know it.

5 Amazing Humanoid Robots that are Currently a Part of Our World

In this day and age, it is really important to rely on technology, and hence humanoid robots are actually a part of most industries. These robots are not only efficient but are programmed to provide the best possible results to the users. So, here is a list of humanoid robots that you definitely should know about.

  • Nadine

This humanoid robot was created in the year 2013 by the Kokoro organization situated in Japan. This particular humanoid was modelled to resemble Professor Nadia Magnenat Thalmann from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The robot has precisely natural-looking skin, realistic hands, and proper hair as well. Beyond the appearance of Nadine, it has been programmed to be intelligent socially.

Hence, Nadine is able to make eye contact with people, shake their hands, etc. She also has the ability to recall every single conversation that she has had. In case you were to meet Nadine for the second time, she will definitely recognize you and then start a conversation based on the things that you talked about the last time. Talk about intelligence, she definitely has got some. She has also been a part of different international events. In the year 2018, Nadine met the Prime Minister of our country, Narendra Modi, when he was visiting Singapore.

  • Sophia

Developed and created in the year 2016 by the Hanson Robotics Company, situated in Hong Kong, Sophia is one of the most well-known and efficient types of humanoid robots for sure. Her looks were inspired by a combination of the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, actress Audrey Hepburn as well as the wife of Sophia’s creator (David Hanson), Amanda Hanson. Sophia is able to see through the cameras that are installed in her eyes. She is able to imitate different human gestures, conversations, facial expressions, and much more.

So, there is absolutely no doubt that she will be able to engage you in a conversation in no time. What’s even better is that Sophia can sing as well. The design and development of Sophia are done in such a way that she will get smarter as time goes on. In the year 2018, Sophia also got the ability to walk. Want more? Sophia was also awarded honorary citizenship in Saudi Arabia. She is programmed to work in different sectors such as education, healthcare, therapy, and customer service.

  • Junko Chihira

In the year 2015, the company called Toshiba created an android which was named Junko Chihira. The main aim for creating an android was for the development of the tourist information centre, which is located in Japan. Junko is a fluent speaker of many languages, including Chinese, Japanese, and English as well.

She is able to interact with different tourists and has a wide range of amazing facial expressions. Not forgetting to mention, Junko is also well-versed in sign language in order to communicate with tourists that have hearing impairments. She is now working at Aqua City Odaiba, which is a shopping centre in Tokyo.

  • Jia Jia

In the year 2016, some robotics researchers from the China University of Science and Technology developed a humanoid robot and named it Jia Jia. She is definitely one of the most well-known humanoid robots in the world and is equally efficient.

Jia Jia has the ability to move her arms and offer facial expressions exactly as humans do. She can also respond the human conversations. Jia Jia has a plastic face and proper brown hair. The creators made sure to focus especially on lip synchronization and eye movements in order to make her look more humane. Attempts are even being made to give the ability to laugh and cry to this humanoid.

  • Erica

In 2015, Hiroshi Ishiguro, created Erica. He is the director of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at Osaka University. There are 15 infrared sensors in Erica’s eyes which track any particular movement. The humanoid robot also has proper speech-recognition abilities and facial recognition features. Hence, Erica can accurately identify any face. She has movement in her neck, waist, face, and more. Although Erica is unable to move her hands and legs, she is working as a news anchor in Japan.

Conclusion

A humanoid robot is an example of excellence, accuracy, and efficiency. There might be a time in future when these humanoid robots will become an inseparable part of our lives. For now, these robots are stationed in different sectors to showcase their skills and capabilities for the overall development and growth of industries.
