What is Factorisation?

Factorization by Regrouping Terms

This is another process of factorization. We will take a term as common and consider it as a common factor while finding the factors of the given expression. This is done by the forming of two groups. 

For example,

7x − 14y

= 7x − (7 × 2)y

= 7(x − 2y)(taking 7 as common)

Factorization Using Identities

The third method of factorization involves using common algebraic identities. 

Factors of the Form (x+a)(x+b)

This is another method of finding factors. This method is usually used when an expression doesn't have perfect squares. Though it is used usually for perfect squares, we can use this method to get factors of expressions without perfect squares too. 

Division of Algebraic Expressions

This is an advanced concept in factorization. As the students have learned addition, subtraction, multiplication of algebraic expressions, now let us learn how to divide two or more expressions.

• Division of a monomial by another monomial.

• Division of polynomials by monomials.

Finding the Error

This section includes the correction of errors in the expressions. Here, we make the right-hand side terms and left-hand side terms equal. This process is also known as verification. Using this equalisation process, we can correct the errors in the expressions.
